Climax as Japan Week 2014 comes to an end In Ghana


Japan Week 2014 has come to a close with a lot of memorable moments of activities from 7th to 9th November. It was a weekend of festivals; Japan Film Festival, Ghana Yosakoi Japan Festival, and Japan Sports Festival. The weekend brought together the Japanese community in Ghana and a lot of Ghanaians who love Japanese culture or curious about it.

Japan Film Festival which happened last Friday presented two beautiful Japanese movies at the Silverbird Cinema, Accra; an animation and a comedy drama. It was clear the movie audience were excited, they seemed to have really enjoyed the movies and kept talking about them when the movies ended.

Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteers (JOCV) band performed Japan rock music. A Ghanaian lady who sings Japanese songs, Stephanie thrilled the crowd with Enka song (a Japanese song). The Ghana Judo Association and the Ghana Karate-Do Association performed judo and karate demonstration. There was Japanese food like Yaki-soba, sushi and many more.There were other activities like Tea Ceremony Demonstration, Kimono Fitting Demonstration, Origami (Paper art) lessons. There was also the kids corner which had putter golf, face painting and kids play. Mary Star of the Sea International School came up tops in the dance.
